[cairo] Why does 'make check' always fail

I edited the last paragraph of src/check-doc-syntax.sh and changed the value 
of the note_regext variable as well as the messages that follow just to 
verify that exactly this paragraph causes the check to fail and it seems to 
be so.  In another test, I commented line 69 (stat=1) and the check in 
question passed.
