<p>I think the only way to fix this is by converting the layout to a path and using fill().</p>

<font color="black" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">I am using Cairo and Pango to render and scroll text (and images) on video streams.  The scrolling is achieved my moving the position of the objects from frame to frame.  For some reason the characters being rendered do not scroll smoothly.  Even though I render the string, not individual characters, the characters tend not to move the same.  The average rate is the same but the space between the characters varies quite a bit.  This becomes much more apparent with lower scroll rates.  Is there any way to compensate for this?
