Nonsense. In the example shown the "baseline" is horizontal. However there 
are complex kerning rules that cause the position of letters to be moved 
vertically depending on neighboring letters. This cannot be described by just 
a fixed y_advance (if it did the example would move the words up, not just 
the letters in the words). Therefore I do not see this as any argument for a 
y_advance.
