[cairo] Compiling error for cvs copy of cairo?

Ciao

I have taken cairo from the cvs. I have tried to compile it (autogen.sh 
--prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --disable-debug && make -j2). 

The compiler says:  
../src/.libs/libcairo.so:  undefined reference to `_cairo_surface_get_image'
../src/.libs/libcairo.so:  undefined reference to `_cairo_pattern_get_surface' 

Cscope and grep confirms the lack of the definition and declaration of
these functions.  I have made some error?
