Just a heads up on the list: the pattern rewrite, including Davids glitz 
adjustments is now in CVS.  I haven't been able to fix the Quartz or XCB 
backends, so these are currently broken.  Other than that there is most 
likely still a number of bugs in there, but with the image backend at 
least it seems to be mostly working.
