Completely tangential, but Stuart, Larry Ewing and I briefly discussed 
metadata in the cairo api at the printing summit. Obviously 
document-level description is the most important thing, but PDF also 
allows per-page and per-object metadata (usually RDF in xml) which 
and extension like this should also enable.
