[cairo] Tessellator performance patch

I've been trying to find some ways to avoid intersection computation in
the tessellator code to improve performance.
This patch creates a new function _cairo_may_intersect that takes to
edges and informs about the feasibility of an intersection between them.
It can report false positives when TRUE, but it's really useful to
discard cases where no intersection is possible to avoid expensive
intersection code.
The function fully detects proper intersection and checks for the
possibility of improper intersection, through the detection of collinear
points.
This is how the code works:
1) Proper intersection check
When two segments segment1 and segment2, defined by its endpoints a,b
and c,d, intersect properly, then edge segment1 has one of the segment2
endpoints to its left AND the other one to its right side, and vice versa.
It's possible to check whether a point c is to the left of a segment
(a->b) using the cross product of a->b and a->c :
(bx-ax).(cy-ay)-(by-ay)(cx-ax)
The cross product is:
* greater than zero when both vectors form a counter-clockwise system,
so c is to the left.
* equal to zero when the three points are colinear
* less than zero when the point is to the left
we can now check for proper intersection using:
!(crossp_abc>0) ^ !(crossp_abd>0)) && (!(crossp_cda>0) ^ !(crossp_cdb>0)
to return TRUE iff proper intersection happens
2)Improper intersection: Colinearity
Improper intersection means that one endpoint of a segment is on the
other segment. We can discard improper intersection cases checking for
colinearity of the endpoints in each segment:
crossp_abc==0 || crossp_abd==0 || crossp_cda==0 || crossp_cdb==0
We use this checks to return before doing actual intersection
calculation in _cairo_bo_event_queue_insert_if_intersect_below_current_y
and there's little performance difference when doing this check before
the slope test or after it.
I've tried to get a fast slope comparison test into this function but I
can't see why I can't get it working.
As we are checking for _slope_compare(left, right)<0 we could benefit
from a short path check, and avoid the calculation of the other cases.
Also, there's room to improve the tests, as we're not using the fact
that the intersections we're looking for are under the current sweep
line, and that we know the segments ordering.
The performance impact for ./cairo-perf-diff origin HEAD -- world-map
zrusin tessellate
is this:
