For what it's worth, I personally think it would be really nice to
have Jorn's patch make it into 1.4. We're still trying to convince the
embedded community that cairo is no longer "too slow" for them to use.
This last patch would be the final nail in the coffin, as it makes
text drawing with GTK2.10+cairo actually _faster_ than with
GTK2.6+Xft.
