[cairo] PDF Transparent Gradients

I've attached two pdf files containing a linear gradient with a red and
green color stop and the extend mode CAIRO_EXTEND_PAD.  The only
difference between the two is the the green color stop in
transparent_gradient.pdf has 0.5 alpha while in opaque_gradient.pdf it
is 1.0. The red color stop has alpha = 1 in both files.

I've also attached screen captures of each pdf as displayed by evince
and ghostscript. The evince output appears to be identical for both
pdf files.

I am using evince 0.6.1, poppler 0.5.4, and ghostscript 8.54.
