paragraphs/sentences could be marked as C-only. Very few bindings will
have to think about reference counting, for example. Some kind of <span>
marker would suffice.

Well, just wanted to get my use cases out there. I wouldn't be shocked
if you broke my current ad-hoc toolchain, but it would be a shame to
replace it with a system that lacks the above features.
