Hi Charles,

I don't think we've got code implemented in cairo's PostScript backend
to recognize repeated use of the same pattern and to avoid re-emitting
it. This really is one of the very few, big inefficiencies left in
cairo's PostScript backend.

I believe Adrian is anxious to get a solution in place for this soon,
(and may have already started working on it). I'll make sure we talk
about this at the upcoming Cairo Summit.
