Hi,

It seems the executable linked to the wrong version of the library
because I had another version of cairo installed because of Gimp. So the
benchmarks I gave were actually for 1.4.2 and not 1.6.4 as I had
thought. I have now re-run all the tests again using 1.6.4 (which I
checked with cairo_version_string function). Here are the new results:

~ DrawHorizLine 15839 ms
~ DrawHorizLine with alpha 30967 ms
~ DrawVertLine 17591 ms
~ DrawVertLine with alpha 17466 ms
~ DrawDiagonalLine 114979 ms
~ DrawDiagonalLine alpha 96101 ms
~ DrawFilledRect 1751 ms
~ DrawFilledRect with alpha 1664 ms

Although these figures show some improvements over 1.4.2 they are still,
unfortunately, much much slower than our implementations.
