[cairo] Solving the self-intersecting stroke

Carl, I've slept on it and acting upon Joonas's hint that we may have
been performing the wrong operation in edge_x_for_y(), I've rewritten
the comparison to perform the test directly upon the edge equations
which simplifies the code greatly.
