Just keep prodding. I've been working on a separate branch the last couple
of months with the intent of xcb taking over from xlib as the default X
backend. This tiny patch is one small drop in that ocean of changes.

I'm sorry that it has taken so long to be resolved, but it has not been
forgotten.
