[cairo] ask for advice about cairo's user_font

FYI - I believe I had run into something similar before, and Adrian
acknowledged a 'first-glyph' problem...

[ Note that I have to draw my glyphs one-at-a-time, so each glyph is
a 'first-glyph' for me ... ]
I confess I haven't had time to re-test this issue, but I could if it
would help any (Although I'm only on 1.8.8, not 1.9)
