[cairo] 1.8.8?

You are right, I have had planned to do a 1.8.8 quite some time ago
(around the same time we planned to make the initial 1.9.2 snapshot...)
At the moment the 1.8 branch just has 3 interesting fixes and there was
a complaint about the version of libtool I packaged with the tarball.
There are a few documentation fixes to be pulled in from bugzilla and a
couple of other minor bugs that deserve closure, but I don't think there
are many more patches to be cherry-picked from master.

So everybody, this is a call to arms! Is there anything worthy of 1.8.8
sitting in master?
