Hi Steve,
I added some comments on bug #22940[0] after you closed it.

Is it really the intention of pycairo not being compatible in terms of
C spec usage and compiler compatibility with cairo itself?
There are quite some patches accepted in cairo upstream just to make
it compile nicely with VS and other non gcc compilers and cairo itself
follows C89. Besides, I'm not the only one[1] hitting this problem.
Besides, on Windows, the only supported option to compile Python
modules is to use VS.

If you have any concerns on how the patch is done, I can rework it,
but please, I urge you to apply it otherwise, or the people wanting to
compile the python module for windows will have to maintain a fork,
which is something I'd hate to do, specially given that it's only a
few lines patch with aesthetics implications only.

Thanks a lot in advance Steve.
