[cairo] is self-copy supposed to work?

Currently self-copy behaviour is underspecified. I think the consensus is
that self-modification is undesired...

Cairo will perform whatever fixups are required to implement consistent
behaviour across the backends, just as soon as it is decided what that
behaviour should be.
