Hi all,
I've just attempted to install pycairo using pip inside a virtualenv
on Debian Lenny, running Python 2.5.
By the looks of it, the Python Package Index[0] has just one version
of pycairo (1.8.8) which only supports 2.6 and above. Trying to
install this on Debian results in SyntaxErrors about the use of the
with statement without the necessary "from __future__ import
with_statement".[1]
Debian ships with pycairo 1.4.12[2]; would it be possible to the
relevant release[3] also added to the Package Index? This would very
much help those trying to deploy to environments where Python 2.6
isn't available.
Warm regards,
Alex
