I agree. I'd much rather see this without the X, (more rambling on this
point below).

My ramblings:

There are various conventions/committees/specifications that have this
disease of marking recently-invented names as "experimental" (as opposed
to some crusty old stuff that was blessed to not have the "experimental"
tag). Then, before anything new can become blessed, the "experimental"
names get used widely and it's never feasible to change them. So you
find names that are totally standard and have been used for years still
carrying a bogus (and ugly) "experimental" tag in their names.

For someone like me who cares a lot about good names, that's a
disturbing disease.

I don't know enough about how the committee controlling MIME types works
to be able to predict whether we'll ever see a blessed type without the
'x' in the string for URIs. But if we did, then at that point we'd want
to change our CAIRO_MIME_TYPE_XURI to match.

But we don't change cairo's API, so let's use the name we know we want
