Maybe I read this mailing list more than you did. There was a thread from
2008 here where some guy wrote that he had made a lot of fixes to glitz and
had finally been greeted as new glitz maintainer by Carl Worth. The glitz
code seems to suggest that there has been work done after 2006, like
replacing pixel with frame buffers.
