Can someone teach me the meaning of the above number
be06d5aaa272bbbd08380f71ca710d5612881493
and what if anything can be done with it?
Being a bear of little brain I have done things like this:
(a) On G-something-U L-something-x:
$ lynx http://cairographics.org/releases/cairo-1.12.10.tar.xz
$ sha1sum cairo-1.12.10.tar.xz
9a71b4be56187ae1b906fe68faeac4d8a9455d4a cairo-1.12.10.tar.xz
(b) On the Tiger 10.4 OS on a something Mini:
In a browser called Safari, typed in
http://cairographics.org/releases/cairo-1.12.10.tar.xz
which caused a download.
In a terminal window:
$ cd Desktop
$ openssl sha1 cairo-1.12.10.tar.xz
SHA1(cairo-1.12.10.tar.xz)= 3fffe9832212e11c2f6c164c66c3a8ec1c1bcaba
Why are they different, and what do I have to do on the downloaded
file to cause the number
be06d5aaa272bbbd08380f71ca710d5612881493
to appear?
