[cairo] Which X11 backend to use?

Hi!

I'd like to use libcairo for animated 2d graphics output in an X11 window. I'm 
not very familiar with X11 programming yet.
There are 3 different types of X11 surfaces: Xlib, Xlib-Xrender, and XCB.

Which one should I use?
