I don't have access to a test case or the problematic printer from the
original printer, so I've pushed the revert.  Hopefully Adrian can take
a deeper look at the original issue and find a safer fix.  I'll CC him
to the bug report in case he'd like to have you verify that new fixes
don't regress printers like yours.
