Sorry, I meant "where is this still needed"? If it were needed, "git grep"
should tell me so.

Now that I have read the rest of the series, I guess that this is only needed by
latter patches in the series. Perhaps the commit message should say so...

Bruce Schneier can read and understand Perl programs.
