There are definitely people who think about Cairo differently, or who
learn in ways to which the existing tutorial doesn't cater. But it's
unclear whether you are suggesting that the tutorial as it stands is
missing things that you describe above, or that the tutorial has too
much beyond what you describe. I'd say your list of concepts is
critically lacking coverage of *paths* and the *verbs* that use them;
perhaps you mean for them to be part of what you call the *context*.
For what it's worth, two recent thread topics have centered around the
two ideas covered in the tutorial's tips and tricks section: stroking
elliptical arcs, and vertically centering text. Clearly not everyone
reads that far, but would more people benefit more from a shortened
document, or is it better to have these miscellany for those who do
read it?
I'll leave it with that; I'm biased, as I learned a lot while writing
it, but I haven't used Cairo much in the last eight years and may be
out of date.
