[cairo] stretching a shape along a path

Hi all,

I am wondering how I can stretch a shape along a path. Take for example
this picture: http://i.imgur.com/5TxrZeI.png

In the example, a triangle is "stretched" along a Bezier path.

How would I reproduce such an effect using Cairo?
