[cairo] Any plan to address the 32768px limit ?

Hi,
I use inkscape which uses Cairo to render bitmap images.
I'd like to import images above the size of 32767 px in either width or height but apparently this limit is hard-wired into Cairo's code.
Is there any intention to change that in order to support larger images?
Otherwise could the source code be easily edited to make a custom build of Cairo with an increased limit?
