Hi,

On my test machine (an amd64 laptop with a ATI Radeon XPress 1200M
chip), the commit in the subjet causes the display to come up black.
Only the cursor is visible (and changes shape when moved around, which
confirms that the applications are there).

Reverting this commit make things work back as usual.
