You'll want to run xterm in utf-8 mode and then tell emacs to output in 
utf-8 mode.

	$ xterm +lc -u8

I thought I saw emacs support for utf-8 terminals.

Now if you use bitstream vera sans mono, you should see all of the glyphs.
