[cairo] Anti-aliased postscript renderer on linux

Hi all,

This may not be a really relevant question for a "discussion about
cairo" list, but -- is there a better anti-aliased postscript renderer
for linux than gv/ghostscript? In particular, something which can use
freetype/Xft/cairo?

Thanks,
Ashwin

PS: I am assuming here that the Computer Modern fonts used by TeX look
much better when anti-aliased on a "low" resolution (1024x768)
display.
