They don't have to install OS/2 to be able to help.  And be sure that
they do care.  Portability is the very first goal of autotools after
all.  Just mail them and tell them the problem, that using
EXTRA_PROGRAMS it gives you this and that error, while with
check_PROGRAMS it works.  Knowing the code, this probably is enough for
them to fix it.
