Which X server did you use? Apple's Xquartz server used to give some
funny results for me (on both intel and ppc), but when I upgraded from
darwinports to macports recently I ended up with their XFree86 port,
seemed not to have the same issues. I've not tried the Xorg port as I
heard its still a bit flakey.

But if I translate by (112.0, 411.0), all is well. Also noted that if I change scale to anything but 1.0, it is also garbled. The garbling is appropriately scaled in size, but is garbled nevertheless.
