Most Linux distros should have Pango+Cairo+FT2 binary packages you can
install. For example, Debian testing has
libpango1.0-0, Version 1.20.0-1
libcairo2, Version 1.4.14-1, and
libfreetype6, Version 2.3.5-1+b1
