[cairo] pixman/cairo & hw acceleration

Hi,

I am trying to port an application to a DirectFB MIPS system and I am a
newbie to cairo/pixman. Everything is working fine; but very slow. Profile
of the application shows that 40% of the time is being spent in a function
called pixman_fill32. As far as I can understand when fonts (freetype) and
png files are involved, image surfaces/pixman are used automatically.

My system offers hw acceleration through DirectFB. Is there any way to use
the hw instead of pixman?
