[cairo] differences between \352\260\220 and a korean character "가"

Hi, 

When I put a Korean character as shown on subject, I want to define a
character variable, char *var=”가”.

But I can not see the correct output on cariro application. Only I can see
the correct Korean sentences with defining a variable, char
*var=\352\260\220 \352\261\233......

 

I defined locale function as given on many websites.

What is wrong on my program?
