Couple weeks ago, I finished up a turnkey (i.e. push one button)  
automated build of Cairo on Windows, using devexpress and msys only  
(probably be pretty easy to tweak it for normal VS2009). It downloads,  
arranges, edits, compiles the whole thing. And even as a single dll  
with no extra dependencies. I started documenting it (the steps) on  
the wiki, but got distracted by other things. I'll see if I can't find  
some cycles to finish it up today. It might help.
