So I went through and looked at what is required to, for example, wrap Skia.

Still lots of loose ends there, but it is taking shape - hopefully enough
to be able to make a decision on whether this method is preferable.
The biggest question mark (wrt skia) is still over font handling, followed
closely by mask and clipping wrt to groups. A start, almost usable.
