[cairo] problem

Hello Carl

thanks for this.  I was really making the comment that the error message
was inappropriate, given that I have in fact installed a standard python 3.

So, how to deal with it?  I am reluctant to rename what is now python3
and call it python.  What's the recommended way to sort this out?
