There has been a number of attempts to write something similar (a canvas widget
for GTK though, not a chart widget, although canvas is probably a more generic
version of such). Some old wiki pages from that era are [1] and [2]. I do wish
you best of luck, as i've found GTK to be lacking something to conveniently
draw charts on more than one occasion.
